How to apply for a cabin crew position..

Who wouldn't want to travel the world for free? Visit all those beautiful landmarks while taking a selfie? Meeting a whole lot of people from different cultures. Breakfast in Paris, canoodling in Venice, enjoying the tropics in Hawaii..and a lot more. Sounds exciting right? That's the job everyone dreamed of, I, for one wanted the job SO MUCH.

I've tried applying for SAUDIA through IPAMS, but sadly I failed on the final interview. I know, I didn't try my best, I was sweating bullets and I'm very nervous in front of the interviewers. I mean, come on? It's my first time facing a panel interview and it scared me a lot. HAHA But I learned a lot from that interview, so when the next time I tried my luck I will be more prepared. Right? Never give up ladies, if this is what you want, then go for it!

What you need to prepare for when applying for a cabin crew position.

1. Research a lot about flight attendants responsibility in-flight
HINT: Pax comfort and safety, these two are the most important role of cabin crews. You think cabin crews are just there to look pretty and serve you food and drinks? Well, you're clearly mistaken. They are there to ensure you are comfortable during the flight and to make sure you're safe at all times. Remember: in case of emergencies(like terrain or water landing) they are the one trained to help YOU evacuate the aircraft withing the span of 90 seconds. RESEARCH A LOT and research as well about the airline you're applying for.

Comfort and Safety is the main priority

2. Dress to impress.ALWAYS be in business attire when going for an interview. Ladies: a BLAZER, BLOUSE, KNEE-LENGTH SKIRT, BLACK CLOSED SHOES with heels(3 inches preferably), some may require wearing a pantyhose and some airlines may not, it all depends on the instruction of the agency or interviewers. Gentlemen: Blazer, Long sleeved button down polo, neck tie, slacks and black shoes. Please, don't go on the interview wearing jeans, it's a big NO-NO. I remember during the initial screening when I applied for SAUDIA there were applicants who wore jeans and a t-shirt, the interviewer gave them a disappointed look and asked them to see their way out. Ladies and gentlemen, don't EVER do that, it only means that you are not prepared and you're not taking the interview seriously. Dress impeccably so the interviewer will see you as a potential employee. Minimal accessories is preferred, pearl earrings for the ladies and a watch would do.

Remember to pull your hair back in a bun.

The right attire will help you land the job.

3. Hair should be pulled back in a bun and make-up should be flawless. With the hair, it should be tied in a bun with no hair hanging loose, you need a hairspray to tame your hair. It should be sleek and professional looking, remember you are applying for a cabin crew position. Ladies, your make-up should be flawless, invest on a good foundation that'll cover all the dark spots, cater your make-up according to what airline you are applying for. Most middle eastern airlines, prefer the dark look which means red lipstick and dark eye shadow. It all depends on the airline, so the key to this is to RESEARCH!

This is the complete look. Notice the red lipstick and smoky eye shadow?

Here's a way to make a perfect bun.

It should be as sleek as this, no loose hair and it look so clean. You'll need a LOT of hairspray to achieve this. HAHA

You can do this type of smoky eye or maybe a bit softer than this one.

I suggest you buy long lasting lipstick brands such as MAC Ruby Woo and Limecrime Red Velvetine.

4. Be confident. You should keep in mind that one of the key on landing the job is exuding confidence, trust me you need it. You shouldn't be intimidated, remember that you wanted the job more than anything else. Some interviewers uses intimidation to know whether the applicant can handle pressure at work, so if you clam up you can kiss your dream goodbye. ALWAYS make sure that you are sitting properly and maintaining eye contact. Just be yourself and don't try to make-up stories because if you get caught then it's buh-bye once again. One thing I learned from the panel interview for SAUDIA is to never admit that you're nervous, NEVER EVER do that. It breaks your chance of getting hired, if they ask you if you're nervous, tell them that you are actually happy to be there and not nervous at all. Try to make the interview as casual as possible, make them smile and be jolly while answering so you will show them what an enthusiastic person you are.

5. SMILE. A full blown smile softens your features and it makes you approachable. You are applying for a cabin crew position which entails a lot of smiling since you are catering to passengers need and comfort. Once you entered the place where the interview is conducted you should greet and smile at EVERYONE you see, I mean everyone(guards, janitors, co-applicants, ALL OF THEM). Exude a positive vibe, be friendly at your co-applicants you might learn a lot from them since some are cabin crews already and it doesn't hurt making new friends, right? Make your job interview worthwhile, learn from it and always SMILE.

"Chances favor the prepared."
Chase your dreams, it'll be all worth it in the end.

If you have questions ladies, just post it on the comment box and I'll be more than happy to answer your queries.
